Residents Say Funding For Jonathan Creek Culvert Not Enough

Residents of the Jonathan Creek area were delighted with the funding announcement yesterday, but they told City Council last night they still need help recovering from the flooding.

Daniel Richards is a homeowner in the area, and he says the City and province needs to provide financial compensation for the damage incurred.

He says, “We need to be able to go forward , repair, cleanup and get our lives back in order. We had to put our home repair on hold because the finances aren’t there to continue, so this is not acceptable.”

Richards says a support group should be set up to help people navigate the paperwork labyrinth to get funding from the government.

The City should also create a Jonathan Creek Flood Task Force to help homeowners with floods until the culverts are fixed.
