Moncton Resident Expresses Need For Downtown Entertainment Centre

The revitalization of downtown Moncton is a major concern for residents, and politicians alike in the city.

Resident and commercial real estate broker Adam Conter (CAWN-ter) delivered an analytical and impassioned speech to Moncton City Council about the need to breathe life into the downtown core.

Conter says the trend in cities has been towards urbanization, and Moncton has to get on board.

He says, “It has nothing to do with building a 9000 seat stadium. It has to do with motivating more people to see the value in living working and playing within a walkable distance. It will motivate multi-millions of dollars, probably close to $150 million dollars in private expenditure, just on the land surrrounding that new centre.”

Conter adds it is an expensive proposition, but it is worth it to rejuvenate the downtown core, and will provide many benefits in the future.

And he adds, that the city is not sharing enough information about how this centre or how the development of downtown Moncton can create longer standing viability, not only for Greater Moncton but also the province as a whole.
