Unions Vow To Fight Gallant Government Cuts

A march and rally was organized by a number of unions in downtown Moncton on this May Day – International Worker’s Day.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees is opposed to provincial cuts to health care and education and a plan to privatize some hospital services.

CUPE New Brunswick spokesperson Daniel Legere addressed the crowd at Moncton City Hall this afternoon.

“This government was elected on a promise of job creation and growing the economy. How can you do that when you’re compressing benefits and wages of workers and cutting down and reducing services?”

Union leaders say they vow to fight any cuts or privatization efforts across New Brunswick.
