Moncton Man Sentenced In Fatal New Year’s Day Crash

A 32-year-old Moncton man will spend the next two and a half years in prison for his involvement in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Bass River on New Year’s Day.

Ronald James Fairweather pleaded guilty to several charges including leaving the scene of an accident and failing to stop and offer help.

Fairweather has been behind bars since his arrest on January 9.

Fairweather also pleaded guilty to stealing a pickup truck which hit a vehicle being driven by 19-year-old Dylan Thomas Warman who died in the crash.

Two of Warman’s friends, also in the car, were seriously injured.
