Higgs Questions Whether Premier Wants To Do Government Differently

Former Provincial Finance Minister Blaine Higgs says the Liberal government has killed an initiative he started that saved taxpayers an estimated 400 million dollars.

Higgs says he set up a project team to come up with ways to do government differently and the leaders he chose to change the culture have been dismissed by the new government. He questions why that would happen at a time when the government claims it has to find savings.

Higgs says he found that, in government, how long you were on the job counted more than your actual performance doing the job itself and the tendency of senior civil servants is to go along with whatever the government in power wants in order not to rock the boat.
