Riverview Firefighters Tackle Two Incidents Overnight

Firefighters in Riverview were busy last night attending two separate incidents.

Riverview Fire Chief Dwight Robertson says the first fire was around 9 at night at 13 Birch Grove Road.

“Upon arrival we discovered smoke coming from the mini home. We quickly gained entrance to the home and put out the fire. A search of the home was complete, the residents were not at home at the time,” says Robertson. “There was extensive damage to the couch and laundry room area.”

Robertson says within a couple hours they went to a second fire at 29 Goldborough Drive with reports of smoke and flames in a garage.

“We quickly gained entrance to the garage and put out the fire, and the occupants were able to escape their home with their cats. There was extensive fire damage to the garage area and smoke damage in the interior of the house,” says Robertson.

He says for both fires, no injuries were reported, and investigations are underway to determine the causes.

There’s also no estimate yet on damages.
