Liberal Government Not Fulfilling Requests Of NB’ers In Provincial Budget

The provincial budget doesn’t reflect suggestions New Brunswickers made to the Liberal government when they toured the province just months ago, that according to Green Party Leader David Coon.

He says instead, we saw cuts to our schools, with $16 million dollars less going to our school districts, the loss of teachers and seniors will now be required to pay more for prescriptions and nursing home care.

Another area that has left Coon confused is wellness.. He says New Brunswickers asked for more money to be invested in that area, for a healthier population. Coon says there’s still some question as to whether there will be a serious focus on that or not.

Coon also says instead of higher provincial fuel taxes, the Liberals should have considered a carbon charge on the large polluters. He says that might have generated just as much as hitting the motorists in their pocketbooks.
