Federal Funding Boosts Seniors Programs At Local Legion Branch

A local Legion branch will be offering more services to seniors thanks to new federal funding.

Legion branch 6 is getting $25,000 dollars to provide new activities for seniors, like oil painting, dance classes and fraud prevention workshops.

Some of the money is also earmarked for washroom renovations and installing security cameras.

Conservative MP for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe Robert Goguen announced the funding yesterday saying it will help seniors maintain a good quality of life, and continue to be active in the community.

The money comes from the New Horizons for Seniors Program which is designed to keep seniors active, engaged and informed.
