Everyone in Saint John knows Gerry Pond and now the whole country knows him.
The co-founder of Mariner Partners is the first BDC Entrepreneurship Champion from the Business Development Bank of Canada. Pond points out the Port City has the two largest independent IT companies in Atlantic Canada–Innovatia and Mariner Partners.
He says between the two companies they employ about 800 people which he thinks surprises a lot of Saint Johners. He says the Saint John IT sector has another 25-30 smaller companies.
Pond says we need more entrepreneurs in this province because they create new wealth and refurbish the economy.
