A low enrolment has prompted the Anglophone East School Board to study the long term sustainability of Dorchester Consolidated School.
But this is not the first time the K-to-8 village school has been under the microscope.
Dorchester Mayor Jerome Bear believes there are many advantages to having a smaller school.
“One of the draws of a small community is the school and how much attention students would get in a smaller school.”
Bear says the topic will likely be discussed at tonight’s village council meeting.
He adds if French immersion was offered at the school, it might help boost enrolment.
