No Change In Getting Quicker Access To A Doctor

The New Brunswick Health Council spoke to more than 13 thousand people in the province about having timely access to medical care when you’re under the weather. Health Council C-E-O Stephane Robichaud concedes there’s still a problem with not much change from 2011 to 2014.

Robichaud says how doctors manage their patient visits makes a big difference and booking up every available time slot during the day is not the best way to go. He maintains setting aside time slots for walkins and emergencies works better.

Robichaud says it has been discovered more after hours clinics do not necessarily mean few emergency room visits.

He goes on to say we could be doing a better job of helping people manage their chronic medical conditions by adopting a team approach with greater collaboration among more health care professionals instead of just leaving it up to the family doctor.
