Internal Investigation Prompts Newspaper Shakeup

Big changes at a couple of newspapers in our province – Brunswick News says Moncton Times and Transcript assistant managing editor Murray Guy has resigned while managing editor Al Hogan is no longer with the company.

The move comes after the paper launched an internal investigation into Guy accepting an invitation to the provincially owned Larry’s Gulch fishing lodge.

That investigation found the two tried to have a then Conservative official alter the lodge’s guest list prior to its public release.

The newspaper company has also demoted Saint John Telegraph Journal editor-in-chief John Wishart for his part in the handling of the incident.

An explanation of the investigation and its results were posted to the papers’ website today following a story about the incident last night on national blog site Canadalandshow.com.
