A retired Roman Catholic priest facing allegations of sexual abuse against boys has elected to be tried by judge and jury.
Yvon Arsenault, 71, made a brief appearance in Moncton Court of Queen’s Bench today.
Arsenault will be tried on 17 charges but due to scheduling conflicts with the Crown and defense, the trial may not take place until early next year.
Arsenault is accused of committing sexual offences against seven boys in several communities from the early 1970’s to the mid-1980’s.
