Shortly before 11 this morning Moncton City Hall was evacuated after workers inside smelled smoke.
Platoon Chief Dennis Dollemont said the problem was a malfunctioning motor powering a fan that moves air through a ventilation duct on the third floor.
“The problem was quickly located and the electricity was shut off to the motor, and the people were allowed back in,” says Dollemont.
Dollemont says there was no damage, other than the broken motor, and no injuries.
He adds the evacuation was handled well, and everyone followed the proper procedures to get out in a safe and orderly fashion.
