What Should You Put In An Emergency Car Kit This Winter?

You can’t predict an emergency, but you can be prepared.

The Canadian Automobile Association says you need an emergency kit in your vehicle.

CAA’s Gary Howard says the kit should include a blanket, flares or signal lights, a first aid kit, and something… a little more Canadian. Howard says, “In Canada, we recommend a couple of toques. Sixty percent of your body heat escapes through the top of your head, so a toque is a good Canadian remedy.”

He also says a cell phone should be in your vehicle anytime you’re driving, so you can call for help if you go in the ditch.

Howard says if you do go off the road, the CAA recommends you stay with your vehicle and call for help, rather than roaming around in a storm, as that could be even more dangerous.
