Busy Year Ahead For Greater Moncton International Airport

The Greater Moncton International Airport is looking forward to another great year.

Last week, they released passenger numbers on a record breaking year for 2014, with over 677, 000 passengers. That’s an increase of 4.6 per cent over 2013.

GMIA Spokesperson Julie Pondant says they’re keeping a close eye on chartered flights to Alberta, which doubled last year. Direct flights to warmer destinations have also started earlier this year. Westjet started in November and others are starting this week.

Chartered flights to Alberta have also played a major role in passenger increases. Pondant says they doubled in 2014.

You may also notice some construction to the right of the Airport. Pondant says, “That is the combined services building that incorporates the Fire Hall, electrical building and maintenance operations. They are targetting June or July of this year to have that completed.”
