The Conservative Opposition is crying foul over what it calls the Premier Brian Gallant’s insistence on closed door, secret meetings.
The Conservative wants the government to consult the public on changes to procedure at the Legislature.
Portland Simonds MLA Trevor Holder says the opposition finds value in some of the proposed changes put forward by government such as an established time for the daily Question Period.
He says what they do take exception is meetings behind closed doors adding they think these changes were written on the back of a napkin in the Premier’s office
Holder says reducing the number of sitting days in the Legislature reduces the number of Question Periods and the chance for the Opposition to hold the government accountable.
