RCMP: Potato Tampering “A Complex Investigation”

A large scale police investigation into potato tampering hasn’t led to any arrests.

More than 10 potatoes were found to have sewing needles inside them.

Cases have popped up across the Atlantic provinces since October.

Sgt. Leanne Butler says police have conducted several interviews in the case while needles and potatoes have been sent to labs for further testing.

She adds they are waiting on test results to come back.

Butler says it’s a complex investigation because it’s not an issue they deal with often.

A $100,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
