Parents And Children To Benefit From Increase In UCCB

Working parents and low-income families are expected to have a bit more money in their pockets in 2015.

The federal government is proposing to expand the Universal Child Care Benefit.

For the first time, parents with children aged 6 to 17 will receive a $60 payment, while kids 5 and under will see their benefit increased from $100 to $160 per month.

H and R Block spokesman Doug Northrup says the changes will take effect later this year.

He says, “The montly payments aren’t going to start in July, so there will be a retroactive payment of $420 come out in July.
