Woman Plans Door-To-Door Campaign For Kent County Animal Shelter

There’s a desperate need for an animal shelter in Kent County, that according to Nicole Thebeau who runs the animal rescue program in that region.

Thebeau says she has been pitching the idea to the provincial government for about ten years, and now she has decided to try and raise the funds to make it happen.

She says it’s hard to believe the number of calls she gets each day about abandoned animals.

Thebeau says, “There are days we get five to ten calls. The New Brunswick SPCA is doing the best it can to cover the area, but there’s just not enough of them and I’m sick of seeing them suffer, and I’m sick of seeing them on the streets like that. Some people just drop them off.”

Thebeau plans to launch a door to door campaign this year, in the hopes they can create a small shelter.

Animals that are rescued in Kent County are currently taken to the Greater Moncton SPCA or the Miramichi SPCA, but they often end up overcrowded.
