Homeless Vulnerable In Cold Temperatures

Temperatures have plummeted this week and that could be leaving the homeless population vulnerable in Metro Moncton.

Harvest House has 30 beds and about half that number are spending the night there right now.

Shelter manager Danny Gallant says they accommodate people on an individual basis but typically someone can stay for up to a month.

He says, “Some people try and keep their places longer because they know that the cold weather is potentially harmful and could potentially kill someone if they are left out.”

Gallant adds the shelter is usually busier during the summer months when many people are on the move to other places.
