More New Brunswickers seem to embracing the Green Party which led to a breakthrough in 2014.
Leader David Coon won the riding of Fredericton South in September’s provincial election and the Greens have third-party status in the legislature.
Coon says voters are becoming more aware of the party’s values.
“The number of people in New Brunswick who cast their vote for Green Party Candidates significantly increased by fifty percent, which is a big step forward,” says Coon.
Now that the Greens have a higher profile in the province, Coon says the party has been able to raise a lot of important issues both inside and outside the legislature.
Coon says it’s incredibly rewarding “to try and help people in neighbourhoods out in Fredericton South and setting up the means to hear from people regularly both in neighbourhood meetings and in our schools and on our campuses.”
“We certainly raised a lot of important issues and I think had some influence on the discussion inside and outside the legislature,” says Coon.
Coon says he looks forward to continuing to raise issues important to New Brunswickers in 2015.
