Karing Kitchen Provides For Less Fortunate All Year Round

As volunteers prepare to spend the day packing Christmas food boxes that will distributed to the less fortunate, we should all take a moment to be grateful.

There are many who struggle each and every day to put food on their tables.

The Karing Kitchen on Alma Street in Moncton is a place where many of them go each day to receive what may be their only meal of the day.

Phyllis Perry runs the soup kitchen. She says, “We see up to 400 people pass through our doors in two hours each day.”

Perry says these are not all homeless people. Many are the working poor who are able to put a roof over their heads, but after rent is paid, they are unable to feed their families.

This is the 30th year for the Karing Kitchen. It is run on donations from food banks, local businesses and members of the public.

Volunteers to help prepare and serve food are always welcome.
