City Launching New Bulk Collection Program In New Year

The City of Moncton will be trying something new in a bid to save money and increase efficiency for their Bulk Collections Schedule in 2015.

Instead of one week dedicated to the collection in Spring, there will be 10 days spread out over a whole year – in 5 week intervals.

Public Works Director Don Morehouse says they are already working with the City Communications Team to address potential issues.

He says, “We have already started to think of approaches on how we can make people aware. I don’t think it will be so much of an issue with the number of items that they are allowed to put out. It will be a case of communicating the idea of the type of items we will collect.”

There are a few restrictions however, only four items can be thrown out at one time and on scheduled pickup weeks, each homeowner must call GFL Environmental directly to give them their address for a pickup.

The City will be unveiling a contact number in the new year, as well as online forms to request a pick up.
