Hydraulic fracturing brings a combination of risk and reward. That from a study released by the Fraser Institute called Managing the Risks of Hydraulic Fracturing.
Dr. Kenneth Green tells us he went looking for the most conservative literature on the issue and found a frustrating lack of information and a lack of risk.
He says in the US over a million wells have been fracked and over 75,000 in Canada but we do need to be careful but we do have the technology and the evolving systems to be able to handle this.
Green says based on the current reading of the risk and the science, moratoriums and bans on fracking by various provincials governments are premature.
