Decision This Morning In Oland Murder Case

A decision will be made this morning by a judge on whether Dennis Oland will stand trial for second degree murder in the killing of his father, Richard in July of 2011.

This follows a preliminary hearing which stretched over 37 days in total. A preliminary hearing to determine if there’s enough evidence to warrant a trial usually doesn’t last that long.

If Oland is discharged, which doesn’t happen that often, it doesn’t mean he can’t be charged in the future if new evidence comes to light. The prosecution can also appeal a discharge.
