Torrential Rain For Metro Moncton

Torrential downpours are expected in Metro Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick over the next 24 hours as a slow moving low pressure system covers the region.

A freezing rain warning has ended but some areas of the north are under a winter storm warning.

All schools are closed due to the weather today in Anglophone East School District, Francophone South School District (except Saint John and Quispamsis) and Anglophone North school districts.

Environment Canada says we can expect up to 90 mm of rain to fall by tonight.

Meteorologist Claude Cote says the ground still frozen in many areas which means poor drainage for all that rain.

Once this system finally moves out of the region tomorrow, Cote says the good news is that temperatures will remain relatively mild which means a flash freeze is not expected.
