The new ferry that will replace the Princess of Acadia next year arrived from Greece and is now undergoing a refit in Halifax.
Don Cormier of Bay Ferries tells us says some fairly extensive work will be done on all its main engines.
He says the ship currently burns blended fuel and its being converted to burn diesel.
Cormier says Transport Canada will be consulting with the public on a name for the new ferry before it goes into service next year.
It’s known as the Canada 2014 but Cormier says Transport Canada will seek input from the public on naming the new vesssel.
The Princess of Acadia which currently runs between Saint John, NB and Digby, NS has been in place for 40 years.
