NDP To Decide Whether Dominic Cardy Will Continue As NB Party Leader

New Democrats in New Brunswick are expected to decide the future of party leader Dominic Cardy this weekend.

Cardy had stepped down as leader after the September election but later chose to remain in the role to run in the Saint John East byelection last month, which was won by Conservative Glen Savoie.

He says party members will have their say at a provincial council meeting in Fredericton, and he has, “Had a pretty strong indication from a lot of people that plan on attending that meeting that they are going to vote my resignation letter down. Then we have to have a conversation about what that would mean. I am certainly open to having that discussion.”

Whatever happens this weekend, Cardy says he loves New Brunswick and will always remain a member of the NDP.
