It’s long been speculated that mayor Mel Norton may have his eye on running provincially at some point in the future.
We asked the Mayor whether he’s been asked yet to run for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party. Norton says not only has he not been asked yet, he’s not looking that far into the future.
It’s believed the Mayor’s less than fluent french could be a barrier to any aspirations to provincial politics, although Norton has notably been working to increase his proficiency in that language out of concern, he tells us, for thye francophone community in the city.
Norton was sworn in for a four year term in 2012.
