Major Crime is investigating the cause of a fire at 124 Duke Street between Charlotte and Sydney Streets in the south end of Saint John.
Thick black smoke and flames could be see billowing from the roof of the red two story home on Duke Street when the fire was at its worst.
An elderly woman was found unconscious by firefighters but still alive and is holding her own in hospital at last report.
The fire department was called back last night to take care of some flareups on the second floor of the fire ravaged building.
