Some charitable groups that help animals and the physically disabled around the province are struggling with a change to NB Liquor policy.
The crown corporation was receiving complaints from its customers so now charities will not be able to fundraise at their store as of next July.
The Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program brings in over $20,000 through this method. Spokesperson Deb Levasseur says they will able to fundraise at Liquor Stores next June before the change kicks in but they can’t have a greyhound on site with them.
Levasseur says not having a greyhound on hand will cut their fundraising in half at least adding she is not sure how the fundraising change will affect them at this point.
In Saint John, SPCA Animal Rescue made nearly $9000 over three days last year during tag days in May.
