It’s World Prematurity Awareness Day

According to the Canadian Premature Babies foundation, the number of infants born prematurely is on the rise.

One in twelve babies in this country are born early.

Today is World Prematurity Awareness Day.

Jenna Morton is the mother of twin boys who were born two months early. She says having a child prematurely can take its toll on a parent, “When you deliver a premature baby, it’s an extremely stressful experience. For a lot of people, that happens without any warning. So we want to raise awareness around what some of the warning signs are and what some of the causes are.”

Morton is also a member of a Facebook group called Moncton Preemie Power, that currently has 70 members.

They offer an online support community for those who children have spent time in the neonatal intensive case unit.
