Concerned Citizens Demand National Energy Board Investigate Energy East Pipeline

A group of environment-minded citizens and professionals in Halifax wants the National Energy Board to look deep into possible effects on the climate by the proposed Energy East Pipeline.

Tori Ball of “Stop Energy East Halifax” says the proposed pipeline from Alberta to Saint John could be a climate nightmare.

She wants the NEB to head-off a potential disaster.

“We think that as our position in Nova Scotia not on the front line of this pipeline,” says Ball. “Our goal is really to support those frontline communities that would be put at risk as well as pushing for a climate review of this pipeline.”

Ball is also opposing any suggestion the pipeline be extended from Saint John to the Strait of Canso in Nova Scotia.
