More Defibrillators Needed Across Canada: Foundation

The Heart and Stroke Foundation is trying to get more life-saving devices in arenas across the country. The group is trying to prevent disease, save lives and educate people how to use an Automated External Defibrillator. An AED can help reset the heartbeat after a cardiac arrest. Manager of National AED programs, Mike Hoffman, says they want to make the equipment more common. He says, “What we’re hoping we can do with the partnership we have with the federal government is deploying these AEDs into facilities that are frequented by the general public. We want to make them as common as fire extinguishers.” All arenas and recreational facilities are encouraged to apply through the Heart and Stroke Foundation. They can do so by going to http://resuscitation.heartandstroke.ca/AED .
