VIA Rail has announced it will be adding capacity on its Ocean passenger service in the Maritimes during the upcoming holiday season.
Ted Bartlett, president of Transport Action Atlantic, is hopeful this is an indication of better days ahead for the Crown Corporation after severe cuts were made two years ago.
VIA Rail has announced it’s adding a fourth weekly roundtrip on its Ocean passenger service but only during a three week period during the festive season.
Bartlett says VIA Rail’s new management team seems to be willing to listen and has displayed a renewed interest in the region.
But he adds the lobby group will continue to push for daily passenger service believing it is feasible with good marketing.
