An Astronaut Is Coming To Town

The first Canadian to ever walk in space will be in New Brunswick a week from Tuesday night.

Chris Hadfield will be at Harbour Station in Saint John to talk about what it took to become an astronaut, how you face up to challenges and, in doing so, overcome your fears which can limit you.

Hadfield says he made a conscious decision to become an astronaut when the very thought of a Canadian doing that was considered farfetched. He was 9 or 10 at the time and was inspired by watching the Apollo mission which saw Neil Armstrong become the first person ever to walk on the moon.

Hadfield was also a test pilot in the military. He has flown into space three times and is also the first Canadian to ever command the International Space Station.
