Premier Standing Firm On Shale Gas

Premier Brian Gallant isn’t budging on shale gas in spite of a warning by former Premier Frank McKenna about a bleak future for the economies of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia unless bold action is taken.

McKenna told an energy conference in Saint John the bold action he’s talking about includes shale gas development. Gallant says he still has questions about the safety of fracking but that doesn’t mean his government doesn’t support energy development.

McKenna says shale gas has been around for over twenty years and because of strong environmental regulations is cleaner and safer now.
