The Saint John Police Department responded to a call around 8:30 tonight regarding a man armed with a long gun at an apartment building on Loch Lomond Road. Tenants called police after being approached by their neighbour, who was brandishing the gun and seemed intoxicated.
Sgt. Chuck Elgee tells CHSJ News the 4-unit building was evacuated and police blocked through traffic in the area of Loch Lomond and Westmoreland around 9:00p.m. Officers spoke with the man, who is in his early forties, through the door and later on the phone. He was persuaded him to come out – unarmed – around 9:30p.m.
Police then searched the home and removed a number of guns.
Sgt Elgee says it’s expected that weapons charges will be laid.
