International Group Voices Support For DNR’s Deer Management Plan

A plan put in place to manage the out of control deer population in New Brunswick’s Kennebecasis Valley caputuring the attention of an international deer conservation group based in Georgia.

The Quality Deer Management Association applauding the plan with Director of Education and Outreach Kip Adams saying in both urban and suburban settings, hunters help cut down on habitat damage and conflicts between humans and wildlife like car crashes.

Adams says deer are one of those animals that if they become too abundant they degrade the quality of the habitat that they’re living in, which not only affects them but also affects a whole host of other wildlife species.

The plan was created by the provincial Department of Natural Resources and allows landowners in the towns of Rothesay, Quispamsis and Hampton to receive special permits letting hunters hunt antlerless deer on their property.
