Collaboration Sought Between Schools and Businesses To Prepare Kids For Job Opportunities

We hear a lot lately about bringing trades back into high schools and getting kids started young on cutting-edge skill-sets like coding….but what about mentoring and co-op programs for the arts?

Saint John filmmaker Emily St Pierre tells us she learned more in a two month internship than she did during her entire, expensive film school education.

Cinematographer Lauchlan Ough started his career as a high school intern at Hemmings House as part of a co-op program and says it changed the direction of his life.

Both St Pierre and Ough would like to see schools and local businesses communicate better about what sort opportunities are coming down the line….and getting kids trained young for specific jobs that interest them.
