Labour Group Calls For Public Inquiry

The New Brunswick Federation of Labour is calling for a national public inquiry into the epidemic of missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada.

Research from the Sisters in Spirit group shows close to 600 deaths and disappearances have been documented.

Odette Robichaud, the federation’s vice-president of women’s issues, says more funding is needed to conduct proper investigations.

Candlelight vigils are being held in the province on a regular basis and will also be held in Moncton and Saint John tomorrow afternoon at the NBCC campuses in both locations starting at 12:40-pm.
