The federal public works department has determined 74 surplus military homes in Moncton’s Acadia Park neighbourhood will be sold.
A spokesperson says a plan for a homeless project involving four of the homes has been withdrawn by another federal department.
Ward 2 Councillor Charles Leger says a lot of details are still missing at the local level, “They have not been communicated, that I am aware of, at the local level. Certainly, from a neighbourhood perspective, residents are wondering how this sale will happen.”
Leger says a lot of his constituents still have questions such as how will the homes be sold and will such a large sale impact property values.
But he adds this could be a positive opportunity to rejuvenate what has become an empty neighbourhood.
