There are five so-called soft skills that are essential for job applicants.
Bob Funk, the C-E-O of Express Employment Professionals, says number one on the list is to be dependable and reliable which is why foreign workers are so valued.
The other soft skills are the ability to communicate well, enthusiam, motivation as well as being both flexible and adaptable.
Funk doesn’t believe communication skills are given strong enough emphasis in school. He also sees a problem with the work ethic not being strong enough in North America which is another reason foreign workers are seen by many companies as being better employees.
He also maintains too many young people entering the job market these days seem to have a sense of entitlement.
