The now wrapped-up election campaign not leaving women in the province with much to celebrate.
That word coming from the Voices of New Brunswick Women Consensus-Building Forum which says women’s equality issues have received almost no attention.
One of those issues is pay equity and co-chair Kim Nash-McKinley says there has to be equality right across the board.
The forum also bringing up the amount of women in running as candidates in the election. At 71, they say it’s the same number this time around as it was in the 2010 election. Nash-McKinley tells us a lot of women’s issues go unaddressed because there aren’t women speaking for them, so they’re either ignored or put to the bottom of the pile as not important.
The independent forum was established in February of this year by the province to advance equality and improve the lives of women and girls.
