Students Encouraged To Vote Through Election NB Campus Outreach Program

Election NB’s campus outreach program is expanding in an effort to increase student voting.

This comes after the success of a similar program in 2010. They went into six post secondary institution campuses and set up returning office locations where students could cast their ballot

Chief Electoral Officer Mike Quinn says this year they are at even more campuses, “We’ve made it a little bit different. Now we’re setting up for shorter periods, but in high traffic areas and we’re hitting a total of 13 campuses this time.”

Students can get added to the voters list on the spot, and they can get a ballot for their home riding or they can decide to vote in the riding where they are attending school.

Quinn says voting stations have been set up at several campuses including, at U de M, NBCC and St Thomas University.
