Delays in Appeal For Fatal Drunk Driving Sentence

An appeal by a 42-year-old man convicted of driving drunk and killing a Moncton teacher, has been delayed until February.

Media reports this morning say that Boyd Reginald Atkinson of Lakeville will have his appeal heard on February 11th, not on September 25th as originally scheduled.

Atkinson is currently serving 10 years in prison for the death of Kathy Horsman in April of last year. The mother of two was killed in a car crash near the intersection of Berry Mills Road and Edinburgh Drive. A passenger in Atkinson’s vehicle was also injured.

Atkinson’s blood alcohol limit was found to be 3.7 times the legal limit.

He is appealing the sentence, claiming it was too harsh.
