Survey Shows Many Of Us Are Unprepared For A Financial Emergency

How long would your rainy day savings last you if you had to weather an unexpected financial storm?

According to annual BMO Rainy Day Survey, the unfortunate reality is that one in four of us only have enough savings to last us a month or even less than that.

And the number of people in that boat is on the rise climbing eight-percentage points since 2012 with the average savings standing at just over $2000. The study showing 52-percent of Canadians have less than $10,000 in emergency savings with 41-percent of that holding under $5000.
