An intensive eight-week, $20-million maintenance project at the Irving Oil Refinery in Saint John is getting underway.
The company says around 900 people including 650 extra tradespeople will be working on the turnaround 24-7 which is expected to be finished in early November. 90-percent of the skilled workforce is from New Brunswick and according to Irving Oil the effect of this project is similar to 216 full-time annualized jobs.
They claim it will support an estimated $13.8-million in consumer spending throughout the province.
