Laurie Boucher

1936 ~ 2026

Bouctouche / Moncton, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Laurie Boucher, 90, that occurred on Saturday, August 8 th , 2026, at the Faubourg du Mascaret in Moncton.

A lifelong resident and ardent supporter of all things Bouctouche, he will be sadly missed.

Born in Bouctouche on July 20 th , 1936, he was the son of the late Albert Boucher and the late Mathilda (née Bourgeois) Boucher.

In 1956 at the urging of Fr Lynn McFadden, Laurie left Bouctouche to attend St. Thomas University in Chatham NB. He always said that this choice completely changed the course of his life and was forever grateful to St Thomas for the opportunities it had given him. It was there that Laurie joined the RCAF and met his future wife, Joan.

Laurie returned to Bouctouche at the first opportunity and became involved in his community. He was a former town counselor, Mayor and member of many associations and committees including the Chamber of Commerce, Manoir St-Jean Baptiste, Club Richelieu and Rotary Club to name a few.

Of the many organizations that he was part of, two held a special place in Laurie’s heart, The first was 763 Bouctouche Air Cadets Squadron that he helped found in 1966 to give opportunities to local youth and commanded for 25 years.

The second was the Bouctouche Golf Course which began construction in 1977 under his presidency. He worked countless hours and knocked on countless doors to bring this project to fruition. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being at the golf course with his many friends making plans and talking about the last round. Right up until the end, he talked about the Golf Course. Laurie was also a former governor of the New Brunswick Golf Association and Royal Canadian Golf Association.

Laurie was also a former governor of the Université de Moncton and St Thomas University, Director of the New Brunswick Minor Hockey Association and member of the Board of Governors of the Center Hospitalier Universitaire Dr. George L. Dumont. He was Past President of the Bouctouche Rotary Club and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

He leaves his wife Joan (McGrath) Boucher of Moncton, his two children: Mike Boucher (Pierrette) and Andréa Boucher (Chantal LeBlanc) both of Moncton. He also leaves his two grandchildren: Nicholas Boucher (Heidi) and Julie Boucher. His sister, Anita Leger (late Euclide) of Bouctouche and Alyre Boucher (late Rosemonde) of Dieppe and a sister-in-law Claudette Boucher of Dieppe, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Beside his parents Laurie was predeceased by one brother, Gerard Boucher.

There will be public visitation and a private funeral service to be announced at a later date.
